December 13, (THEWILL) –Â Emma Raducanu will not compete in the Mubadala World Tennis Championships after testing positive for COVID-19, according to event organizers.
The formal statement, which was posted on social media, read: “Mubadala World Tennis Championship organizers regrettably confirm that Emma Raducanu has tested positive for COVID-19 and has withdrawn from this week’s championship.
“Emma is now isolating and following all necessary protocols. We wish her a quick recovery and hope to see her back on the court soon.”
This devastating news will derail the 19-year-old’s preparation for next year’s tennis season’s opener, the Australian Open in Melbourne. The Brit had hoped to use the championship as a warm-up competition for Melbourne.
