June 07, (THEWILL) – British teenager, Emma Raducanu, was forced to quit after only seven games of her Nottingham Open first-round match against Viktorija Golubic due to an injury.

The 19-year-old Raducanu appeared to have a left rib injury after less than 10 minutes of playing competitively in the UK for the first time since her sensational US Open victory last summer.

Raducanu needed to receive medical attention court-side, yet her movement was noticeably hindered, and she had no choice but to withdraw from the game, where she was trailing Golubic 3-4 after 35 minutes.

THEWILL recalls that Raducanu previously suffered blister issues earlier this season and she had had to retire from matches due to hip and back issues in her fledgling professional tennis career.
