June 01, (THEWILL) – Rising British tennis star, Emma Raducanu, has announced her separation from coach Sebastian Sachs, marking yet another shake-up in her coaching team since her remarkable triumph at the US Open in 2021.
The 20-year-old prodigy is presently in the process of recovering from triple surgery on both of her wrists and her ankle, adding to the challenges she has faced in recent times. Raducanu took to social media to express her gratitude towards Sachs. She posted: “I have really enjoyed Seb’s coaching and working with him, it’s unfortunate that circumstances made it unfeasible for both of us to continue right now and we have decided to part ways. I wish Seb all the best-moving forwards.”
Raducanu’s recent form has had an impact on her ranking in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) standings, as she has now slipped to the 107th position. The young athlete has encountered a series of setbacks over the past couple of seasons, resulting in her downward trajectory.
Unfortunately, recent surgeries mean Raducanu will be absent from the upcoming Wimbledon tournament this summer, and her participation in the US Open, set to commence on August 28, in New York, remains uncertain.
THEWILL recalls that Raducanu enlisted Sachs as her coach in December, but their collaboration yielded limited success, with their sole Grand Slam appearance ending in a second-round exit at the Australian Open. This coaching split with Sachs marks Raducanu’s fifth change in two years, highlighting the instability in her support network.
Prior to Sachs, she had worked with Dmitry Tursunov, Torben Beltz, Andrew Richardson, and Nigel Sears. These frequent changes suggest the ongoing quest for the right coaching fit as Raducanu strives to regain her form and ascend the ranks of women’s tennis once again.
