November 08, (THEWILL) – Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a British millionaire and founder of Ineos, has ruled out acquiring any English Premier League teams, including Liverpool.
Ratcliffe previously tried unsuccessfully to purchase Chelsea, and after making hints that he could be interested, the owners of Manchester United informed him that the team was not up for sale.
The latest media interest in Ratcliffe came after owners of Liverpool, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), declared on Monday that they were open to prospective investment from other sources, citing a desire to protect the club’s long-term interests.
FSG stated that while the club’s relative lack of spending power has highlighted a potential need for additional investment, they are still dedicated to Liverpool’s success, both on and off the field.
However, according to a statement from Ineos, there is no chance that the multinational chemical company will consider investing in Liverpool. Instead, they confirmed that Nice, the club Ratcliffe purchased for an estimated €100 million in 2019, has growth potential in Ligue 1, dousing any need to invest in the Premiership.
