June 14, (THEWILL) – Real Madrid have finalised the signing of Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund, securing the young talent on a six-year contract.
Bellingham’s exceptional performance during his three-year tenure in Germany propelled him to become one of the most sought-after players in the global football arena. The transfer, valued at €100m with additional incentives, marks Bellingham’s move to the hallowed Santiago Bernabeu, a fortress of Spanish and European football.
Although Manchester City and Liverpool were in the transfer conversation, and they both remained keen on bringing the prodigious English midfielder to the English Premier League, Bellingham made the decision to join Real Madrid in mid-May. The 14-time UEFA Champions League winners successfully negotiated personal terms with the talented teenager.
The agreement has now been officially confirmed by both Real Madrid and Dortmund, solidifying Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield options that include Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde, and seasoned veterans, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric. The 19-year-old, who amassed an impressive tally of 132 appearances for Dortmund, will be introduced as a Real Madrid player on Thursday, at noon.
Interestingly, Manchester United had previously expressed interest in signing the young talent when he was 16 years old, with legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, even holding discussions with Bellingham’s family. However, the midfielder chose to follow in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho, who also ventured to the Bundesliga before sealing a lucrative move to Old Trafford.
