December 08, (THEWILL) – Contractual terms have reportedly been agreed upon for teenage star Endrick of Palmeiras, to join Spanish giants Real Madrid.
The 16-year-old has agreed to a deal from Los Blancos worth over €70 million, which is a significant increase from the amount Los Blancos agreed to pay for Vinicius Junior, in 2017, when he was also 16 years old.
Despite this significant transfer expenditure, Endrick will not wear the illustrious white shirt for Real Madrid until the 2024/2025 campaign due to existing laws concerning under-aged international players.
The relevant statute specifies that, when it has to do with playing outside their country of origin, players can only move to a team in a new country when they turn 18. It will be until July 2024, before Endrick will be 18.
In the meantime, he will stay with Palmeiras and continue plying his trade for the Periquito Verde.
