FIFA President, Gianni Infantino, conveyed this announcement on Thursday, expressing his firm stance against such discriminatory behaviour. Infantino emphasised the need for immediate action when instances of racism occur, declaring that football must no longer tolerate such incidents.
This decision comes after a meeting between Infantino, Vinicius Jr, and the Brazilian national team, further underscoring the significance of this appointment.
In other news, Real Madrid confirmed on Monday, that Vinicius Jr will assume the prestigious number seven jersey, previously worn by Cristiano Ronaldo. Following Eden Hazard’s departure, the 22-year-old Brazilian prodigy will proudly display the iconic shirt for the upcoming season.
Madrid’s official website already features Vinicius Jr as the club’s number seven in the first-team squad section, while his compatriot Rodrygo Goes will take on the No. 11 shirt vacated by Marco Asensio.
