June 02, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s top-flight football league, previously known as the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), has undergone a significant rebranding, as announced by the Interim Management Committee (IMC).
The committee revealed a new name and logo for the league during the highly anticipated draw ceremony for the upcoming 2022/2023 Super Six playoff. Going forward, the league will be officially referred to as the Nigeria Premier League (NPL), reflecting a fresh chapter in Nigerian football.
The decision to rename the league was first implemented by the IMC at the beginning of the current season, as they sought to revitalise and modernise the competition. Now, the IMC has unveiled the new name and logo, solidifying their commitment to elevating the stature of Nigerian football.
With the NPL set to take its place among the prestigious football leagues around the world, this rebranding effort aims to attract more attention and investment, bolstering the growth and development of the sport in the country.
The NPFL Super Six playoff is scheduled to kick off in Lagos on Saturday.
