April 12, (THEWILL) – Manchester City produced a stunning performance to defeat Bayern Munich 3-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash at the Etihad Stadium, with Erling Haaland continuing his feats of goal-scoring.
The win puts City in a commanding position ahead of the second leg and has put Pep Guardiola’s side on course for the semi-finals. The former Bayern coach got the better of his old team and his old rival, Thomas Tuchel, whose Chelsea side beat City in the 2021 final.

Although Bayern had some chances, they were unable to find the back of the net and City went on to seal a comfortable victory.
City will now be looking to complete the job in the second leg, which will be played in Germany. Meanwhile, Bayern face an uphill battle to turn things around and keep their UCL hopes alive.
In the meantime, both sides have domestic league matches to contend with, with City facing Leicester in the English Premier League, while Bayern take on Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.
