August 30, (THEWILL) – Music artiste, Divine Ikubor, better known as Rema, has broken another record in the US.
His song, ‘Calm Down’, featuring Selena Gomez, has become the first song in history to spend one year on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Song chart.
American data collection company, Chart Data, made this known on Monday.
The hit song has spent 52 weeks as number one on the Billboard U.S. Afrobeats Songs chart.
In June, ‘Calm Down’ became the longest-charting African song on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached number one on the Canadian Top Songs chart.
The song also entered into the Guinness World Record as the No.1 hit on the official Middle East and North Africa (MENA) chart (the world’s first regional streaming chart).
It debuted at No. 1 when the MENA chart was launched by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) on November 29, 2022.
The song was released in February 2022 as a single, off Rema’s ‘Rave and Roses’ album. He later featured US singer, Selena Gomez, in the remix of the song.
