October 18, (THEWILL) – Gio Reyna marked his return to the USA national team by scoring twice as the Americans thrashed Ghana 4-0 in an international friendly on Tuesday.

The Borussia Dortmund attacker opened the scoring in the 10th minute after a good buildup play from Folarin Balogun. Christian Pulisic then doubled the lead from the penalty spot nine minutes later after Tim Weah was fouled in the box.

Balogun got on the scoresheet himself when he made it 3-0 in the 22nd minute following an assist from Juventus compatriot Weah. The US then grabbed a fourth before halftime through Reyna, who finished well after a clever pass from Pulisic.

Manager Gregg Berhalter made multiple substitutions at the break with the game already won. The changes disrupted the Americans’ rhythm and they were unable to add to their first-half goal tally in the second period.

Overall, it was a comfortable victory for the USA, who outclassed their West African opponents. Reyna’s brace on his return to the squad, following his spat with Berhalter, was the highlight of the friendly.
