August 10, (THEWILL) – Riyadh Air, the new Saudi Arabian airline set to launch operations in 2025, has entered into a multi-year sponsorship agreement with Spanish soccer club Atlético de Madrid, the two organisations announced in a joint statement on Thursday.
Under the sponsorship deal, Riyadh Air will become Atlético Madrid’s main sponsor. Club CEO, Miguel Ángel Gil, welcomed the partnership, stating that it “means a great opportunity to offer better experiences to our fans around the world.” He expressed confidence that the alliance with Riyadh Air will help advance the club.
Riyadh Air is owned by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, the Public Investment Fund (PIF). Riyadh Air Chief Executive, Tony Douglas, noted that through this sponsorship agreement, “we are once again surprising the world as we move towards our inaugural flight in 2025.”
The financial terms of the sponsorship agreement were not disclosed in the statement. The deal reflects Riyadh Air’s strategy of building global brand recognition ahead of its launch by partnering with a prominent Spanish soccer club. It also supports Atlético’s efforts to expand its fanbase and commercial partnerships worldwide.
This agreement will provide financial resources and global visibility to both Riyadh Air and Atlético as both parties seek to grow their international presence and appeal.
