September 01, (THEWILL) – During a robbery at his home earlier in the week, Barcelona star, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, suffered a broken jaw.
When a gang entered Aubameyang’s home early on Monday morning, as THEWILL reported, they were armed with weapons and iron bars, with which they assaulted him. Aubameyang was with his wife and both were shackled throughout the break-in. They had their children with them inside their home in Castelldefels, just outside of Barcelona.
Initial reports from club insiders indicated that they did not suffer any significant wounds. It has now been confirmed that the former Arsenal striker suffered a broken jaw and will be out for about three weeks, which may have an impact on a potential transfer to Chelsea.
Barca and Chelsea discussed a deal for Aubameyang on Tuesday, with more expected on Wednesday. The EPL team has been very clear that they will not pay more than €20 million for the forward, but Barca was initially refusing to accept less than €25 million. Now, Aubameyang’s jaw issue has slightly altered talks, and a loan to the west London club is being considered.
Although Barca manager, Xavi Hernandez, is glad to keep Aubameyang, the club has been compelled to consider offers since they must lower their wage bill before the transfer market shuts this week.
