July 04, (THEWILL) – Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, the grandson of Hollywood actor, Robert De Niro, has died at the age of 19.
De Niro’s eldest daughter, Drena, posted on Instagram to say her son had died. She said the family had lost a sweet angel.
Drena was adopted by De Niro, and took his surname, after the actor married her mother, Diahnne Abbott, in 1976.
Leandro was reportedly found dead on Sunday, with a white powdery substance on a plate near his body sitting in a chair in a $950,000, one-bedroom apartment in the Cipriani Club Residences on Wall Street.
Like his grandfather, Leandro was an actor and had roles in ‘Joy,’ ‘The Intern’ and ‘Mozart in the Jungle’, among a long list of credits.
