March 23, (THEWILL) – Zambia secured a crucial 3-1 victory against Lesotho in their latest Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Thursday evening.

Fashion Sakala and Lameck Banda were the heroes for Chipolopolo, with both players scoring a goal each in the second half at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Zambia dominated possession from the outset and constantly threatened the Lesotho defense. However, it was the visitors who took the lead in the 32nd minute through Tshwarelo Bereng’s free-kick. Zambia responded swiftly, with Sakala’s stunning goal four minutes later levelling the scoreline at halftime.

In the second half, Zambia came out firing and soon took the lead through Banda’s powerful header in the 52nd minute. Banda scored his second goal of the match just four minutes later, sealing the victory for the home team. Despite a late surge from Lesotho, Zambia held on to claim a vital win in their quest for qualification.

The Zambians lead Group H with six points after three matches while Lesotho is stuck at the bottom of the group with a single point to their name.
