BEVERLY HILLS, August 18, (THEWILL) – The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has announced the imminent return of President Muhammadu Buhari to the country from London where he is receiving medical treatment for an undisclosed ailment.
This was as the Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara, says the health of Buhari has improved tremendously.
Saraki and Dogara were the latest Nigerian public officials to visit the President, who had been in London where he has been receiving medical attention for over 100 days.
Buhari had on Saturday received a team of his media aides including the Information minister Lai Mohammed, presidential spokesmen Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu, and his personal assistant on social media Lauretta Onochie and senior adviser on foreign affairs and diaspora Abike Dabiri-Erewa.
Speaking after the meeting with the President on Thursday, Saraki said, “It is clear that Mr President’s insistence on following his doctors’ advice has yielded the desired results.
“I therefore confidently look forward to Mr President’s imminent return home.”
He disclosed that Buhari was abreast of the goings-on in Nigeria and that the meeting with the 74-year old leader was “of substance where we discussed important matters of state” including the 2017 budget.
“In particular, we talked about the virement request by the Presidency which is before the National Assembly.
“We then considered the steps to be taken in the preparation of the 2018 budget to ensure its early passage,” said the Senate President.
On his part, Dogara said he was glad to see that the President’s health status had greatly improved.
Tweeting via @Yakubdogara, he also urged Nigerians to continue to pray and offer thanks for answered prayers and for the safe return of the President.
Dogara said, “Today we visited His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari. I am glad that he is doing well.
“His health has improved tremendously. I urge all Nigerians to continue to pray and offer thanks to God for answered prayers and for the safe return of Mr. President.”
