March 31, (THEWILL) – Luigi De Siervo, the chief executive officer of Lega Serie A, has praised Victor Osimhen, after the Napoli striker was named Player of the Month for the month of March in Italy’s top flight.
The award will be handed to Osimhen in the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Naples during a pre-match ceremony prior to the 2 pm Napoli versus Fiorentina fixture on Sunday, April 10.
Before reporting for international duty on Tuesday, March 22, the Nigerian forward played ninety minutes in each of The Parthenopeans’ three matches this month, scoring back-to-back braces against Hellas Verona and Udinese.
In the Super Eagles’ colours, even though he did not score, the Napoli hatchet man started both matches against Ghana in the 2022 World Cup playoff and looked the most promising to find the back of the net.
De Siervo praised the striker’s talents while speaking with the official website of Serie A. He said: “Victor Osimhen has now achieved the status of one of the most dominant forwards in our league.
“Physical strength, speed, courage and determination make the number 9 one of the leaders of Napoli, an absolute reference point of the offensive plots of the Azzurri, as evidenced by the four goals in three matches in March”.
Osimhen is scheduled to re-join his Napoli teammates in training on Thursday, ahead of their Serie A encounter against Atalanta in Bergamo on April 3 as he leads their charge towards a first Scudetto since the 1989/1990 season.
