December 23, (THEWILL) – Serie A side, Monza, have dismissed manager, Alessandro Nesta, following their 2-1 defeat to Juventus, which left the club rooted to the bottom of the table.
The Italian club announced the decision on Monday, with Nesta departing after just 20 matches across all competitions since taking charge in July 2024. The club acknowledged Nesta’s contributions and extended best wishes for his future endeavours, though the team’s position remains precarious, sitting five points from safety.
The former World Cup winner with Italy in 2006 had stepped into the role following Raffaele Palladino’s departure to Fiorentina, who had overseen two successful campaigns at the helm.
Under Nesta’s leadership, Monza managed just one victory in 17 league fixtures this season, placing them at serious risk of relegation to Serie B.
The 48-year-old’s exit marks the end of his brief tenure at the Brianza-based club, with management now seeking a replacement to guide them through their remaining fixtures of the 2024/2025 campaign.
