June 13, (THEWILL) – Sierra Leone used their numerical advantage against Guinea-Bissau in their second Group A game in the TotalEnergies 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Monday to pull off a 2-2 draw at home.
Jorginho scored a goal in the 49th and 52nd minutes to give Guinea-Bissau a 2-0 lead. But, the visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 57th minute after Sana was shown a straight red card.
Sierra Leone took full advantage of the red card and equalised through Augustus Kargbo on 77 minutes. The hosts completed the comeback with two minutes remaining through the industrious Musa Kamara.
Guinea-Bissau could not find a winner and managed to hold off the hosts for the remainder of the game to gets share of the points. They now have four points and are in second place in Group A, while Sierra Leone is in third place with just one point from their two games.
The Super Eagles have taken charge of the group after whitewashing Sao Tomé and Principe 10-0 earlier in the day, with Victor Osimhen scoring four goals. In September, Guinea-Bissau will be guests of the Super Eagles for their third group encounter.
