November 18, (THEWILL) – Italian tennis sensation, Jannik Sinner, dominated the ATP Finals in Turin on Sunday, defeating Taylor Fritz 6-4 6-4 in a commanding performance. The 23-year-old achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first Italian player to win the prestigious season-ending tournament.
The victory marks Sinner’s eighth tournament win of 2024, including major triumphs at both the Australian Open and US Open. His achievement in Turin was further distinguished by winning without dropping a single set throughout the competition, a feat not accomplished since Ivan Lendl in 1986.
The match against Fritz showed Sinner’s superior form, with a crucial breakthrough coming in a nine-minute seventh game of the first set. The world number one maintained control throughout, with Fritz unable to generate any break point opportunities in the second set.
