November 09, (THEWILL) – England Manager, Gareth Southgate, has named a largely familiar squad for the final two Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia this month.
The Three Lions boss has made minimal changes from last month’s internationals, with Newcastle striker, Callum Wilson, returning from injury the only notable inclusion.
Manchester City defender John Stones and Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah are the two players to miss out from the previous squad that secured wins over Australia and Italy. Southgate also opted against bringing back former England regulars like Raheem Sterling, James Ward-Prowse, Anthony Gordon and Cole Palmer.
Injury concerns James Maddison and Bukayo Saka have been selected but England have no need to take risks, having already qualified for Euro 2024 with two games to spare.
After closing their qualification campaign, England will continue preparations in March with friendlies arranged against Brazil and Belgium at home.
