October 30, (THEWILL) — Juventus have confirmed the appointment of Luciano Spalletti on a contract running until the end of the current season. The former Napoli boss replaces Igor Tudor, who departed on Monday after failing to register a victory in his final eight matches at the club.
Tudor had been in charge since March, following the brief tenure of Thiago Motta, who also lasted just over half a season. The pattern of instability continues at the Turin club, where four of the last five managers have overseen no more than 52 matches. Only Massimiliano Allegri, who amassed 420 matches across two separate spells between 2014 and 2024, breaks that sequence.
Spalletti arrives with a decorated CV, having guided Napoli to their first Scudetto since the Diego Maradona era in 2023 before taking charge of Italy. The 66-year-old has claimed Serie A’s Coach of the Year award three times—twice with Roma in 2006 and 2007, and again following Napoli’s title triumph. His silverware collection includes two Coppa Italia trophies, one Supercoppa Italiana, and two Russian Premier League titles with Zenit Saint Petersburg.
The Bianconeri currently sit seventh in Serie A after defeating Udinese 3-1 in midweek. Spalletti will take charge of his first match on Saturday when Juventus face Cremonese.
