Quincy Promes

May 31, (THEWILL) – Quincy Promes, the former forward of Ajax and the Netherlands, is set to face prosecution for his alleged involvement in cocaine smuggling, as confirmed by the Public Prosecution Service.

It is claimed that Promes brought in a total of 1370kg of the illicit drug, intercepted in two separate shipments in Antwerp back in 2020. The case is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing in the Netherlands on Monday, June 5, as reported by NOS.

In addition to the drug smuggling charges, the 31-year-old footballer, currently playing for Spartak Moscow in Russia, is also facing an accusation of aggravated assault. New evidence has emerged regarding a stabbing incident involving Promes and his cousin during a family event. While Promes had previously denied these allegations, a police wiretap revealed his confession to the stabbing.
