January 31, (THEWILL) – Pedro Porro is set to join Tottenham Hotspur as the club has agreed to pay his €48m release clause in several instalments.
Spurs’ interest in the transfer first came to light in December, but a move was delayed due to lengthy negotiations between the two clubs. Porro, who was previously playing for Sporting CP, was granted permission to miss training on Monday, as he focused on the transfer.
Upon arrival at Lisbon airport late on Monday, Porro expressed his gratitude towards Sporting CP and confirmed his love for the club, despite his imminent move. He will undergo a medical at Tottenham’s Hotspur Way training ground overnight and become the second senior January signing for the club, following the loan arrival of Arnaut Danjuma from Villarreal.
Porro’s transfer to Tottenham is highly anticipated by fans and adds to the club’s already strong defensive line. The Spanish defender is known for his versatility and his ability to play in multiple positions, making him a valuable addition to the team.
As the January transfer window comes to a close, Porro’s transfer to Tottenham is a promising sign for the club as Antonio Conte’s charges continue their push for success this season.
