September 01, (THEWILL) – After five games in the English Premier League, a goal from Tomáš Souček, earned West Ham a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur and stopped Antonio Conte’s side from having their best-ever start to a league campaign.
At the London Stadium, Thilo Kehrer’s own goal, gave their London rivals the lead at the break, after Spurs had previously had a penalty controversially overturned.
However, Souček scored a goal past Hugo Lloris for West Ham to draw level in the 55th minute. From that point on, the hosts appeared to have a better chance of winning the game with Lucas Paqueta, the club-record signing, marking his debut.
Spurs remain unbeaten with 11 points from five games despite failing to complete the victory, while West Ham now has four points after bouncing back from a slow start that saw them drop three straight games without scoring.
On Saturday, while Spurs are hosting Fulham at home, West Ham will be at Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in another London derby.
