July 19, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur’s newly formed Fan Advisory Board (FAB) has united in its opposition to the club’s plan to raise match-day ticket prices for the upcoming 2023/2024 season.
The decision comes despite the club’s previous announcement in April to freeze season-ticket prices for the second consecutive year, citing concerns over the cost-of-living crisis. However, the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters’ Trust (THST) and the FAB members are frustrated about the lack of communication with the club regarding the price hike, indicating the need for greater transparency and consultation with the fans before implementing such changes.
During the first-ever Tottenham FAB meeting, held last Monday, the 10-member board, which includes representatives from the THST and Proud Lilywhites, conveyed their firm objection to the proposed match-day ticket price increases. The increase in match-day ticket prices and the upgrade of six fixtures to Category A, the most expensive ticket category, have drawn criticism from both the THST and the FAB.
Stephen Cavalier of THST highlighted the importance of engaging with the Trust and involving the FAB in decision-making processes before finalising any plans.
Echoing this sentiment, Chris Paouros, co-chair of Proud Lilywhites, pointed out that the club’s approach on this matter did not align with a fan-centric approach, a fundamental role of the FAB, and raised concerns about the potential negative impact on the match-day atmosphere if supporters are priced out of attending matches regularly.
