November 10, (THEWILL) – Following breakthrough conversations over the last 24 hours, Steven Gerrard is on the verge of becoming the new Aston Villa manager.
Villa targeted Rangers manager Steven Gerrard as soon as they fired Dean Smith on Sunday following a run of five straight defeats, and are now set to get their man.
Nassef Sawiris, Wes Edens, and Christian Purslow, the company’s owners, said they hoped to find a replacement by next week after interviewing several applicants.
Gerrard, who has been a strong contender since the beginning, is expected to be confirmed by the weekend if Villa act quickly.

He kept the team in the Premier League and led Villa to the Carabao Cup final since then, but he paid the price for a poor run of form in the 2021/2022 campaign.
