December 03, (THEWILL) – Liverpool pulled off an exhilarating late comeback against Fulham to win 4-3 at Anfield on Sunday. The match saw high drama, with the lead changing hands multiple times before Liverpool scored two late goals to secure the victory.
The game started off looking like Liverpool would cruise to an easy win after early goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alexis Mac Allister. However, hapless defending allowed Fulham to equalise and later take the lead with goals from Harry Wilson and Kenny Tete.
Liverpool pressed hard for an equaliser, but Fulham substitute, Bobby De Cordova-Reid looked to seal the win for the visitors with his 80th minute strike. Substitute Wataru Endo, however, sparked Liverpool’s comeback just seven minutes later. Alexander-Arnold then grabbed his second to put Liverpool ahead in the 89th minute.
While securing the win, sloppy play saw Liverpool waste dominant spells and allow three rare away goals for Fulham. Boss Jurgen Klopp will be frustrated by the needless late drama to beat a team in the second half of the EPL standings.
The match was also marked by injury early on for Fulham keeper Bernd Leno, who played nearly 100 minutes with bandages after a clash. Yet, Liverpool failed to properly test him for much of the game until the later drama.
