February 07, (THEWILL) –Â At the end of Niklas Sule’s contract with Bayern Munich, which expires at the end of the current season, he will join Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer.
Sule has been a regular in the Bayern team since his arrival in Bavaria in 2017. However, it is believed that he chose to reject Die Roten’s offer of a new contract because he did not feel valued by the team.
Sule’s representative revealed on Sunday that his next move has been chosen, albeit no specific side was mentioned. That is no longer the case, according to the Frankfurter Rundschau, who reports that Sule will join Dortmund in the summer.
It is no surprise that BVB are aiming to bolster their defence after conceding so many goals this season. They were defeated 5-2 by Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday, and only three clubs in the Bundesliga have a poorer defensive record this season than Marco Rose’s team.
Sule should provide much-needed leadership and stability in Dortmund’s back four as the club looks to reduce the gap on Bayern Munich next season.
Prior to joining BVB, the German international was identified as a possible target for Chelsea, who are increasingly anxious about losing Cesar Azpilicueta, Antonio Rudiger, and Andreas Christensen in the summer.
