June 12, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, has seen the arrival of two more players for the upcoming TotalEnergies 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Sierra Leone.
The Nigeria Football Federation confirmed that all but two of the invited players have reported for international duty. Sivasspor winger Ahmed Musa and Porto left-back Zaidu Sanusi joined the squad today in Lagos, bringing the total number of available players to 21 under the guidance of manager Jose Peseiro.
However, the team is still awaiting the arrival of key players Victor Osimhen and Bright Osayi-Samuel. While it is understandable that Osayi-Samuel has yet to show up in camp, having participated in Fenerbahce’s 2-0 victory over Basaksehir FK in the Turkish Cup final on Sunday night, Victor Osimhen’s absence raises questions.
Osimhen’s season concluded eight days ago, and the Super Eagles manager is keen to have him join the team. Apart from the pair of Osimhen and Osayi-Samuel, the rest of the squad wasted no time getting down to business. On Monday morning, the players in camp hit the gym as they prepare for the crucial match.
