Frank Onyeka

June 23, (THEWILL)- The transfer season is in full swing and squad members of Nigeria’s senior men’s national football team, the Super Eagles are in contention across different leagues for moves to places with better opportunities. One such player is Ogochukwu Frank Onyeka, a midfielder currently with Danish side FC Midtjylland.

The 23-year-old is on the way to becoming the third Nigerian international in contention to make his English top-flight debut in the forthcoming season barring any unforeseen circumstances in the nearest future.

Currently, the Super Eagles assistant captain William Troost-Ekong, who helped Watford seal promotion to the Premier League and has been retained by the club is the first new inclusion of Nigerian players coming in, while the Hornets announced the capture of Emmanuel Dennis from Club Brugge on Monday, as the second.

Onyeka’s switch to Midtjylland’s newly promoted sister club Brentford is close to becoming a reality and will confirm him as the third to join already established stars of the EPL like Everton’s Alex Iwobi, Leicester’s Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi.

In the Danish capital, the defensive midfielder is set to undergo a routine medical after vacationing in his homeland Nigeria with a check-up scheduled for Wednesday, June 23rd in Copenhagen and not London, the city where Brentford are based at the moment.

The midfielder’s contract is due to expire on June 30, 2024 but he is now due to depart FC Midtjylland and resume with Brentford after 123 appearances for the first team in Denmark.
