January 07, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s senior men’s national football team, the Super Eagles, has settled in the Cameroonian city of Garoua ahead of their TotalEnergies 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group D match against Egypt on Tuesday.
Arriving on a chartered jet from Abuja, the three-time AFCON champions touched down in Garoua on Thursday and quickly got acquainted with their base.
The team held their first training session on Thursday evening at Stade Roumde Adjia, where they will face Egypt on January 11th, according to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
However, defenders Tyrone Ebuehi of Venezia FC in Italy and Jamilu Collins of Paderborn in Germany, who are anticipated to join camp soon, were absent from the 25-man squad.
As THEWILL reported, Ebuehi is a late replacement for Omonia Nicosia’s Abdullahi Shehu, who is injured.
On Friday, the Super Eagles will play Coton Sport, champions of the Cameroonian top-flight division, in a friendly match that will take place behind closed doors in the practice ground of the Stade Roumde Adjia.
