April 07, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s Super Falcons started their World Cup preparations on a high note by registering a 2-1 victory over Haiti in Antalya, Turkey.

Esther Okoronkwo and Asisat Oshoala were on target for the Nigerians ladies, who had to overcome a tough challenge from their Caribbean opponents. The Falcons had a slow start and struggled to break down the resilient Haitian defense in the first half.

Oshoala had several chances to score in the first half, but it was Okoronkwo who eventually broke the deadlock with a stunning free kick in the 40th minute. Oshoala later doubled Nigeria’s lead in the 58th minute, before Haiti pulled one back through a defensive mix-up. The match ended in a tense finish with both sides missing clear-cut chances.
