April 01, (THEWILL) –Ashleigh Plumptre, the Super Falcons’ central defender, is unlikely to be included in Leicester City’s matchday squad when they face Arsenal in the Women’s Super League (WSL) on Sunday, April 3.
After suffering a head injury, Plumptre was replaced after thirty minutes as the Foxes were thrashed 9-0 by Chelsea on Sunday.
Prior to the north London club’s visit to the King Power Stadium on Thursday afternoon, Leicester manager Lydia Bedford announced during her pre-match briefing that Plumptre had not trained all week, putting her participation in doubt.
“Injury wise, we are still struggling a little bit from the weekend,” Bedford revealed to the team’s website.
“Obviously we had Ash [Plumptre] and Molly [Pike] come off the pitch during the game due to various injuries and at this stage neither have returned back to training.”
It is now unclear whether Plumptre will be called up for the forthcoming double-header versus Canada later this month, with the first match taking place in Vancouver on April 8.
In the WSL this season, the 23-year-old has made sixteen starts and scored her latest goal against West Ham United on February 13.
