August 04, (THEWILL) – After failing to command a starting position at Old Trafford due to competition from new recruit, Tyrell Malacia, left back, Alex Telles of Manchester United, has completed a season-long loan to Sevilla until June next year.
It is a significant move for Telles because as a backup and rotation option for Luke Shaw, he has not had the opportunity to shine in the majority of his two years at United since arriving from Porto in 2020. He has only managed 50 appearances for the team across all competitions.
The well-travelled Telles has played in Turkey, Italy, Portugal, England, and Brazil since 2013 when he relocated from his native Brazil to Europe as his career took him through six different nations.
The 29-year-old still has two more seasons left on his deal with United, and there is a further 12-month extension option available until the summer of 2025. The deal was officially completed after medicals were done on Wednesday. Sevilla will pay €2m as part of salary.
