December 24, (THEWILL) – Erik ten Hag has revealed that squad players Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, and Fred have had their one-year contract extensions activated at Manchester United.
Each of the four players has been crucial for Ten Hag’s team, helping the Red Devils to within three points of the top four in the English Premier League with one game in hand.
With four EPL goals this season and three goals for England at the World Cup, Rashford in particular has appeared revitalised since the Dutchman assumed leadership of the dugout at Old Trafford.
Rashford’s contract was set to expire at the end of the current campaign, which led to speculation linking the forward with a move to Paris Saint-Germain. However, Ten Hag has now confirmed that the 25-year-old will remain.
Ten Hag answered queries concerning their contracts saying: “Yes, I can confirm it. We are happy because the squad is going in the right direction and those players [have made] a massive contribution in that direction.
“We want to develop, we want to support those players and we want them to keep in our process, so that’s why we came to those decisions, I’m sure they are the right decisions. We want to construct a team for the future, for longer years, and those players have to be part of it.”
