April 21, (THEWILL) – Erik ten Hag has been named as Manchester United’s new permanent manager.
Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, the Ajax head coach will become Old Trafford’s fifth permanent manager, succeeding Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and replacing interim Ralf Rangnick.
Ten Hag will stay with Ajax for the rest of the season, intending to guide them to their third Eredivisie title in three years, before taking over as manager of United in the summer.
During his time in Amsterdam, the 52-year-old has earned a reputation as one of European football’s most entertaining coaches, having memorably led Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals in 2019.
