BEVERLY HILLS, February 27, (THEWILL) – America’s iconic golfer Tiger Woods was moved to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where he underwent additional follow-up procedures after his Tuesday single-car accident. As reported by THEWILL, Woods suffered multiple non-life-threatening leg injuries in the crash. It remains unclear how his recovery timeline will play out, but his medical procedures were a success.
The multiple golf champion was in Southern California for scenes for a GolfTV programme that featured Woods coaching celebrities on their golf. The SUV he was driving was reported to have hit the center divider on the road before rolling over multiple times and landing about a hundred feet from the pavement.
The 45-year-old was still conscious when rescue came and he was quickly taken for emergency surgery at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center.
Woods’ surgery required that doctors insert a metal rod into the tibia of his right leg along with screws and pins in his foot and ankle. Anish Mahajan, the chief medical officer of the medical facility, said Woods suffered “significant” leg injuries, including open fractures to both the upper and lower portions of his right tibia and fibula.
The authorities clarified the issue of criminal conduct when they said Woods won’t face charges labelling the crash as “purely an accident.” Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva told reporters there was no evidence “whatsoever” that Woods’ driving was impaired before the accident by any substances.
While the 15-time major champion is said to be “in good spirits” from the social media posts of his team, the LA authorities are awaiting black-box data from the SUV to learn more about what led to the crash as part of their investigations into the accident.
