June 27, (THEWILL) – President Tinubu has asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of Retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Hashim Argungu, as Chairman and Chief Onyema Uche, as Secretary of the Police Service Commission (PSC).
The President also asked the lawmakers to consider and confirm the nomination of Retired DIG Taiwo Lakanu, as a member of the PSC, and the appointment of Dr Olatunji Bello, as Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice Chairman of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
The request was conveyed in two separate letters read at plenary on Thursday, by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Tinubu had on June 10, replaced Solomon Arase, a retired Inspector General of Police as chairman of the PSC.
The request for confirmation of Bello’s nomination was referred to the Senate Committee for Trade and Investment, while that of Argungu, Uche and Lankano, was referred to the Senate Committee on Police Affairs for further legislative work.
The Committees have one week to submit their reports.
