Tinubu - Dantata

June 28, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of prominent businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, describing his death as a monumental loss to the nation.

Born on May 19, 1931, Dantata died in the early hours of Saturday at the age of 94. He was widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most influential business figures and a committed philanthropist.

In a condolence message signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu paid glowing tribute to the elder statesman, noting that his legacy of service, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy had a lasting impact on countless lives across the country.

“Alhaji Dantata will be remembered for his industry, diligence, steadfastness, and great commitment to national unity through his many business ventures and philanthropic activities,” the President said.

Tinubu also recalled his personal relationship with the late mogul, describing his support and wise counsel over the years as deeply enriching.

“He was a patriot whose contributions to the economic development of Nigeria and the empowerment of citizens, particularly in education and healthcare, are remarkable,” he stated.

Dantata was one of the founders of the Kano State Foundation, an endowment initiative aimed at advancing educational opportunities and supporting small-scale enterprises in the state.

His business footprint spanned sectors such as construction, manufacturing, banking, and oil and gas.

He also served as Commissioner for Planning and Development in the old Kano State, among other public roles.

President Tinubu extended his condolences to the Dantata family, the Government, and the people of Kano State over the death of what he described as “an illustrious son of Nigeria.”
