February 28 (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu on Friday signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill of ₦54.99 trillion into law at the State House in Abuja.
The National Assembly had approved the budget on February 13, increasing the initial proposal of ₦49.7 trillion by about ₦7 billion.
Tinubu had initially presented a ₦49.7 trillion budget proposal to a joint session of the National Assembly on December 18, 2024. The budget, tagged “Budget of Restoration: Securing Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity,” prioritises security and defence, infrastructure, health, and education.
However, citing additional revenue generated by key government agencies, the President, in a letter to both chambers of the National Assembly on February 5, raised the proposal to ₦54.2 trillion.
Following further revisions, lawmakers passed the final budget of ₦54.99 trillion before transmitting it for the President’s assent.
