February 04, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu has signed a bill seeking to establish the North Central Development Commission into law.
The President also assented to the bills establishing a federal polytechnic in Rano, Kano State, and a federal university of health sciences in Tsafe, Zamfara State.
Tinubu had Monday assented to the Federal University of Environment and Technology Establishment Bill 2024, establishing a Federal University of Environment and Technology, Ogoni, in Rivers State.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio, disclosed this on Tuesday at the resumption of plenary by the lawmakers.
The NCDC bill, sponsored by the senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, and other senators from the North Central region, was passed by the senate on 4th July 2024.
The bill, which passed first and second readings on October 5, 2023, and February 21, 2024 respectively was first sponsored in the 9th Senate by Moro where it passed first and second readings but could not get presidential assent before the expiration of the 9th Senate.
