April 04, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a new head coach has hit a snag, as two of their top targets, Julian Nagelsmann and Roberto De Zerbi, are reportedly unlikely to take on the role.
The club recently parted ways with Antonio Conte and placed his former assistant, Cristian Stellini, in interim charge. Since then, they have been vigilant in their search for a permanent replacement.
Nagelsmann, who was immediately touted as a leading candidate to take the job following his surprise sacking by Bayern Munich, is currently in talks with Chelsea about their vacancy. It is believed that he would prioritise a move to Stamford Bridge if he were to head to England.
Meanwhile, Brighton boss De Zerbi is reportedly not convinced that Spurs’ project is the right one for him, although this could change between now and the end of the season.
Spurs are also considering former Barcelona and Spain manager Luis Enrique as a candidate for the job, but he is also believed to be a top target for Chelsea. Tottenham’s disappointing 2022/2023 season has only added to the pressure to find a permanent successor to Conte.
