June 17, (THEWILL) – London side, Tottenham Hotspur, has completed the £26 million signing of midfielder Yves Bissouma from Brighton.
After being linked with a move away from the American Express Stadium in recent seasons, the Mali international finished his medical checks on Thursday. Initially, Aston Villa had made an offer, but Spurs beat them to it and have already finalised the purchase. Following the free transfers of Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster, Bissouma becomes Tottenham’s third summer signing.
Brighton manager Graham Potter believes this move is ideal for Bissouma in a parting statement where he said: “The transfer is a very good one for the club and player. Yves has shown his undoubted ability and been an important player during his time with us.
“Now he has a new challenge with Tottenham, including the opportunity to play Champions League football, and everyone at the club wishes him well.”
THEWILL recalls that Bissouma was arrested in October, along with a man in his thirties from Brighton, and though he was freed, he is awaiting the outcome of a police investigation into the sexual assault allegations for which he is being investigated.
