June 27, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly determined to retain the services of their star striker, Harry Kane, during the upcoming summer transfer window.
While the club’s all-time leading goal-scorer has only one year remaining on his contract, recent reports monitored by THEWILL, suggesting an offer from Bayern Munich of €70 million plus add-ons for the England captain, have not been officially confirmed.
However, it is understood that any potential bid would be swiftly rejected by Spurs. This stance aligns with the club’s consistent position on Kane in previous transfer windows, despite ongoing interest from other clubs.
The continuous speculation surrounding Kane’s future aside, Tottenham have remained steadfast in their commitment to keep hold of the 29-year-old forward. Last year, Kane was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City, but he ultimately remained with his childhood club and achieved a significant milestone in February. By scoring the winning goal against Pep Guardiola’s side, Kane surpassed Jimmy Greaves’ long-standing record of 266 goals for Spurs, which had stood since 1970.
The next objective for Kane is to surpass Alan Shearer’s record of 260 English Premier League goals, with the forward currently 48 goals away from achieving this feat after an impressive individual campaign, during which he netted 30 times. Although discussions regarding a new contract between Tottenham and Kane’s representatives were expected to be postponed until the conclusion of the 2022/2023 season, the appointment of a Director of Football is still pending at the club.
