May 05, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur’s captain and goalkeeper, Hugo Lloris, will miss the rest of the season due to a thigh injury sustained during a 6-1 loss to Newcastle on April 23.
The Frenchman has not featured in a match since the injury occurred. Tottenham’s interim manager, Ryan Mason, confirmed the news of Lloris’ absence on Friday, ahead of a match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
“We had the results back. Obviously disappointing, but we kind of feared that initially. We did some more tests and he won’t play for us again this season,” said Mason, who is the third manager Tottenham has had this season.
Lloris’ absence is a blow to Tottenham’s hopes of a top-four finish in the English Premier League, as they currently sit nine points adrift with only four games left. Additionally, Lloris only has one year remaining on his contract, and his future at the club remains uncertain.
