August 02, (THEWILL) – English side, Tottenham Hotspur and UEFA Conference League champions, Roma, are still in talks over a transfer for Italy international, Nicolo Zaniolo.
Spurs have already brought in six players during this transfer window, and they are eager to add more players in preparation for their return to the UEFA Champions League this year. Their long-standing interest in Zaniolo is set to cost more than €50 million, as Roma hopes to offer him a new contract later to keep him.
Fabio Paratici, Spurs Managing Director of football, and Tiago Pinto, General Manager of the Giallorossi, have recently held additional discussions while Zaniolo played in Roma’s 1-0 preseason victory over the north Londoners in Israel on Saturday.
Although Zaniolo often plays as a striker or playmaker, Antonio Conte has plans to use the Italian winger in a similar manner to how he used wingers Matt Doherty and Ivan Perisic in that loss against Roma.
However, Zaniolo is also a target for Juventus, who also held talks with Roma this summer. But, Tottenham are leading the race because the 23-year-old is open to moving to England.
