March 30, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur released a statement on Wednesday, in reaction to media reports about the extension of a sanction imposed on Fabio Paratici.

The statement read in part: “Following media reports today regarding the FIFA Disciplinary Committee decision to extend worldwide the sanction imposed by the FIGC Federal Court of Appeals on Fabio Paratici, on 20 January 2023, the Club made urgent enquiries to FIFA.”

The club confirmed that they had received a response from FIFA, notifying them of the decision made by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee to extend the sanction of Italy’s Football Federation worldwide. The decision was taken without advance notice to any of the parties involved, and the club noted that it was seeking further clarification from FIFA about the extension and its variance from the FIGC sanction.

They insisted that the worldwide ban was news to everyone: “We should like to make clear that when Fabio conducted the interview on Club channels yesterday, neither he nor the Club had any indication of this decision being made by FIFA, based on the fact the FIGC sanction was taken on 20 January 2023 and remains subject to an Appeal on 19 April 2023,” the statement continued.

Tottenham finished by noting that they will provide updates on the matter in due course.
