November 24, (THEWILL) — Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have successfully repelled a Boko Haram assault on Magumeri town, neutralising seven terrorists and forcing the remaining insurgents to flee after a fierce engagement late Saturday night.

The attackers stormed the community under the cover of darkness, setting fire to homes and vehicles, including one belonging to a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). Several structures were destroyed, but no lives were lost.

The Executive Chairman of Magumeri Local Government Area, Hon. Abubakar Abdulkadir Yaro, confirmed the development, noting that the terrorists retreated around 3 a.m. following a swift, coordinated response by troops, the CJTF, Hunters, and local volunteers.

He commended the security forces for their courage and professionalism, adding that their quick action prevented what could have been a devastating attack.

“Normalcy is gradually returning to Magumeri as security personnel maintain a strong presence in the area and residents resume daily activities”, Yaro said.

Recovered items from the fleeing terrorists include weapons and ammunition, further weakening their operational capacity in the region.
