April 07, (THEWILL) – Thomas Tuchel has called on Bayern Munich to maintain a positive mindset as they prepare for a crucial run of fixtures in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League.

The team is facing a challenging time after their unexpected 2-1 defeat at home to Freiburg in the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday. Bayern will play against the same opponents in the league on Saturday, followed by a quarter-final against Manchester City next Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Tuchel emphasised the need for his players to be “positive” despite the setback. He acknowledged the team’s lack of cohesion and creativity and the need for precision in the last pass. Tuchel also confirmed that Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Mathys Tel would miss the Freiburg game due to injury, while Dayot Upamecano is suspended.

As alternatives in Choupo-Moting’s absence, Tuchel said: “Sadio Mane and Serge Gnabry can play there as well, they will be my players of choice.” He acknowledged that the team cannot use the Freiburg game as preparation for Manchester City, as they play a completely different way.

The manager finished by urging his players to maintain a positive mindset to move forward, saying that a bad mood would not help anyone.
